Bouncing Back from a Big Splash: How You Can Help MCDC Reopen!

At the Magic City Discovery Center, we believe in the magic of learning, creativity, and play. But recently, we faced an unexpected challenge—a major water leak caused by a burst pipe, affecting our first floor and lower level. While we’re working hard to clean up the mess and restore the center, we need your help to bring the magic back as quickly as possible!

What Happened?

Earlier this week, a pipe burst at the Discovery Center, leading to significant water damage on the first and lower levels. As soon as the leak was discovered, our team jumped into action, contacting insurance providers and disaster restoration experts to assess and mitigate the damage. While we’re making progress, the closure has resulted in unforeseen expenses and revenue loss, making this a tough time for our nonprofit.

Our Plan to Reopen

We are committed to reopening as soon as possible! Here’s what you can expect:✅ First & Second Floors Reopen: Monday, March 3rd✅ Lower Level Update: We’re still assessing the timeline and will keep you posted!✅ Discounted Tickets: While the lower level remains closed, we’re offering reduced ticket prices so families can still enjoy all the hands-on learning and fun upstairs.

How You Can Help

Our community has always been at the heart of MCDC, and we’re so grateful for your support during this time. If you’d like to help, donations of any size will go directly toward repairs and restoration, and we will ensure we can continue providing a safe and exciting space for kids and families.

"We are doing everything we can to get back up and running, but the costs associated with this unexpected event are considerable," said Allan Pearson, President of MCDC. "The children and families who visit the museum are at the heart of what we do, and we are focused on getting back to providing them with a safe, educational, and enjoyable experience."

Thank You for Your Support!

We’re so excited to welcome you back to the Discovery Center and can’t wait to see kids exploring, building, and creating once again. Until then, we’ll keep you updated on our progress and look forward to seeing you soon!

Let’s bring the magic back together! 💙✨
